Deny God’s word… or be called a bigot.

Disclaimer to this post: I know there some of my readers who have spoken out for the very first time in your life. I know there are pastors who’ve engaged, some for the first time. (There are two right here in my community.) When I speak, I’m speaking through a bird’s eye view… not to you who have felt the fire. Keep scrolling if that is you.

790_4550262My heart breaks in two when I get calls from bloody and battered  lawmakers who have stood in the fire for religious freedom...for us... Lawmakers who are weary and beaten down…Lawmakers who are losing their businesses, their very livelihood standing for what is right.

These same lawmakers look around and see a silent majority. They see Constituents who hailed them as freedom loving, religious freedom protecting heroes, and thought voting for them was enough. These same people pass the offering each and every Sunday and sing Jesus Loves me,  and Onward Christian soldiers. They walk out to the world and do nothing for fear they may be called a bigot, hate monger, or even worse, non-Christian.

It’s like they are taking their theology from Miley Cyrus!

Those who sit in the pews, week after week, drinking milk from the pulpit, leave the church building and are squashed with the first whack of the enemy.

Our lawmakers are taking it in the teeth for an absent majority who don’t even really believe we have a right to religious freedom. Some think religious freedom may indeed make us bigots and hate mongers.

Some angered by my words say, “Well we elected them to go speak for us,”  Yeah, I have heard it a million times.  Let me make something clear.  Yes, we elected them to go do the right thing, but we also have a responsibility like Aaron and Hur to hold their arms up, and back them up while they do it.

We have abdicated that position because we are lazy.

We have abdicated that position because we may get our feelers hurt.

We have abdicated that position because we don’t have time.

Those kind of excuses are legit for a while, however at some point enough is enough.

The left is playing for keeps. They know what they want, and they go grab it, even if it leaves destruction along their path. They use Saul Alinsky tactics. They know it inside and out.  Christians however, have lived their lives in Sunday School, listening to stories and memorized scripture about putting on the armor of God, but in reality we don’t even know what that means. We’ve buried our spiritual armor somewhere, and now we can’t find it!

The “church” (again…please see my disclaimer above) has not taught us how to be high-caliber spiritual warriors. The enemy has figured it out, and is now wiping us out twenty at a time.

Many have come to me bruised after losing family members for standing up for religious freedom… after being whacked by the left, they are literally white with terror. I’m telling you friends, the enemy plays for keeps, and he is NOT going away, even if you ignore it. I’m grateful more stepped up this time.  What would have happened if we all did?

Can I shoot straight with those who sit on the sidelines?

If you don’t fight now, you NEVER will. If you don’t fight now, with something as simple as posting on social media, or speaking out on these issues, what makes you think you will fight when you are faced with real persecution like Aaron and Melissa Klein from Sweetcakes by Melissa. They are losing their home for their stand for Jesus!

The answer my friend is… you won’t.

What will happen when there is physical pain involved, when you cower even now at the word bigot? What will happen when you are faced with losing everything and you buckle by being called unchristian, and a hate monger?

The answer my friend is… you won’t.

Here is what WILL happen if you don’t put on the full armor of God. You will change the meaning of God’s word to fit the culture. You will change the meaning of God’s word to take away the initial pain it brings.

If we don’t stand, we will easily find ourselves saying, “Well God didn’t say….. ” Well the times have changed…”

Church, decide now where you stand.  This battle in Indiana is just the TIP of the iceberg.  It is just the beginning of the persecution. You may think you can hide from this, but you are doing yourself a disservice, you are deceiving yourself, and you are playing with fire.

Get involved.  Hold up your lawmakers arms.  Stand loudly. Stand boldly for truth.

Ephesians 6:10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God,so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place,15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.19 Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.
