We have nothing without Religious Freedom.

thI’ve been fighting for family values and conservatism for about nine years.  I’ve seen a rapid moral decay happen right before my eyes.  Most of it leaves me absolutely speechless.  I’ve learned a lot throughout the nine years. Mostly trial by fire.  I’m thankful for the training ground to prepare me for the battle of the ages. I have come to believe the political game is changing for those of us who are on the front lines and are believers in Jesus Christ. The end game is changing quickly. The tactics are changing. Quite frankly, if I may be honest with you, while important,  I don’t give a rip if our country has spent itself into oblivion if I don’t have my religious freedom. I don’t care if my country is sinking if I am enslaved by a government god of tolerance and political correctness. Times are changing… tactics are changing and passions are changing. If we let them take away our religious freedom, we  deserve what is coming our way.

So many Christians are sitting on their thumbs drinking milk and fighting among themselves over the color of carpet or how many times to dunk someone in baptism.  I’m done with those games. I am losing my freedom to publicly believe and proclaim the name of the one who saved my soul from hell, and  I will give my last breath to keep it as long as I can!

My political fight has now come full circle.  When I began my fight 9 years ago, I fought for religious freedom. I’ll never forget the day I sat with a State Rep here in Indiana and learned incest failed to pass the House by 2 votes.  I won’t forget the day I picked up Janet (Folger) Porter’s book called “The Criminalization of Christianity” and wept.  That book changed my life. They said I was absolutely crazy. They shouted… MONICA, IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN HERE.  I was told by pastor after pastor. “Monica, I have to be careful what I preach, we have to be sensitive to our audience.” What I heard was, “Monica, we have to pay the mortgage.”

I shouted from every platform I could find. When Barack Obama was elected, I remember thinking, if we don’t have a Constitution, there is no way we can fight for values.  For five years I have fought for fiscal conservatism.  Believing  if we don’t get our fiscal house in order we will not have any other freedom to worry about.  I don’t buy that now. It’s both AND.

If we don’t have Religious Freedom, WE HAVE NOTHING.

Oh, don’t get me wrong.  The gates of hell itself will not prevail against the church no matter what tyrant is in office. God is not sitting up there on His throne wondering what to do about America.  But the life we knew, the freedom to worship our Lord Jesus in public, the freedom to share the good news, the freedom to stand for truth will soon be gone. Take a minute to watch this video on the threat to our freedom.

It happened just like they said it would in the book, “After the Ball: How America Will Conquer Its Fear and Hatred of Gays in the 90’s.”  Marshall Kirk and Hunter Madsen devised a public relations strategy to push the homosexual agenda to America without her even knowing it.  We took the bait and now we are seeing the criminalization happen right before our eyes.   Just this morning, I opened my email to find the following story.  I have to wonder.  Will this be the story to wake people up?  If not, we’ll try the next one.

Air Force cracking down on Christians.

by Todd Starnes

A 19-year-old Air Force veteran who was relieved of his duties because he disagreed with his openly gay commander over gay marriage is now facing a formal investigation after he told me his story.

Senior Master Sgt. Phillip Monk found himself at odds with his Lackland Air Force Base commander after he objected to her plans to severely punish an instructor who had expressed religious objections to homosexuality. During the conversation, his commander ordered him to share his personal views on homosexuality.

“I was relieved of my position because I don’t agree with my commander’s position on gay marriage,” he told me. “We’ve been told that if you publicly say that homosexuality is wrong, you are in violation of Air Force policy.”

In one of her first meetings with Monk, the commander expressed concern about the chaplain who would deliver the benediction at her promotion ceremony.

“She said she wanted a chaplain but objected to one particular chaplain that she called a bigot because he preached that homosexuality is a sin,” Monk said.

After he was relieved of his duties, the Liberty Institute filed a religious discrimination complaint on his behalf…

Steve Branson, pastor of Village Parkway Baptist Church, tells me that as many as a half dozen of his church members are currently facing persecution on the base for their religious beliefs

The more I engage in this battle of a lifetime, the more I see the strategy changing.  At least for me personally anyway. If I don’t have the freedom to worship my God, then I have no freedom at all.  This aspect controls all the areas of my life. My Church. My business. My soul. My FREEDOM. I do not want to stand before Christ and say, Lord, it was too hard. I hid in the church because I didn’t want to mess anything up for you.  I want so say, “Lord, I fought the good fight, I finished the race, I stood for you even when it got hard.

Monk tells me Christians are trading places with homosexuals.

“Christians have to go into the closet,” he said. “We are being robbed of our dignity and respect. We can’t be who we are.” END QUOTE

None of the so-called fights for equality are about equality. They are about turning the tables. The ones who felt oppressed have become the new oppressors.

As for me the closet cannot contain what I have to say, and I will speak out for FREEDOM until the day I die.  Christians, where will you stand when Jesus returns for his bride?  Will He come and miss you because you are hiding under the pew?  No, I want a front row seat.  In fact,  I’ll be waiting at the door!   It is time to speak out for truth in love with no shame.  It is time for those who are asleep to wake and engage in this battle for our very souls.

Just think, if we save that… we save our Country.

  1. Monica, A positive side effect of people relying on God, is they know that every decision does not have to go in the direction that would give them an immediate direct advantage. The positive side effect is that such people are likely to follow Adam Smith and work for what will save America’s economy. If enough Americans follow God, America’s economic engine is likely to be tuned up for growth.
