People with a Biblical view of Marriage now deemed to have “Psychological Issues.”

The American church has chosen silence and apathy as a response to the overwhelming attacks by the left in the cultural war. They thought by being as quiet as church mice, they could make the big bad news headlines and religious freedom pokes disappear. However, because Christians have allowed the bakers, photographers, and businesses to stand alone, the Trojan horse is now in the camp and the doors to the camp are locked shut.

I’m going to shoot straight with you and start by talking about the elephant in the room, then I’ll close with five things you can do living in this new reality. Read the following headline on Yahoo news this morning:

Homophobic People Often Have Psychological Issues.

Snap1Yes, you read that right. This article says,

Homophobic attitudes may say a lot about the person who holds them, new research suggests.

A new study of university students in Italy revealed that people who have strongly negative views of gay people also have higher levels of psychoticism and inappropriate coping mechanisms than those who are accepting of homosexuality.

This doesn’t mean that homophobic people are psychotic; rather, psychoticism is a personality trait marked by hostility, anger and aggression toward others. But the study does suggest that people who cling to homophobic views have some psychological issues, said lead researcher Emmanuele Jannini, an endocrinologist and medical sexologist at the University of Rome Tor Vergata.  (read the rest)

This article gives you the new reality printed in black and white. They don’t even hide it anymore. If you stand on the authority of God’s Word… you are now labeled with a mental disorder. It’s astonishing. Two years ago the same types of sexual behaviors described in this article were listed in the DSM as illnesses and disorders… now they have been removed, and Christianity has replaced them.

Let me repeat. The new cultural norm says… If you stand on the authority of God’s Word, you now are the one that has the mental illness.

It’s true, silence may have squeaked a few more months as the timing of persecution will vary from person to person, but no longer will the left be satisfied with your silence and apathy.

Sorry… they just won’t.

th (6)What you face now is much bigger. Friends, they will now demand your public denouncement of the Holy Scriptures. They will want proof that you’ve removed the parts of Scripture that do not measure up with the new tolerance doctrine. They will want to see the new politically correct translations hanging on the doorposts of your homes and churches. Most won’t see this as a problem and will quickly comply and adopt these new Bible translations. To the others who refuse…you will be deemed as hated bigots and diagnosed with a mental health disease.

The question facing believers in Jesus Christ is: How do we now live in this new reality?

Before you misunderstand, let me clarify something. I will never raise the white flag of surrender to my country. I will speak out and continue to influence those in authority on these issues. Our founders did not quit, nor will I.  But AS I SPEAK OUT…. here is how I will choose to live in the midst of chaos all around me.

1. This battle will NOT be won without callused knees.

Persecution_Britain.jpg.crop_displayI used to believe the problem was political… and believe me, I get it, the political system is screwed up and corrupt. Truth is, election time is the only thing these men and women think about, so one might think it political… but the problem is this: we vote for them!! We accept compromise because in our hearts we have also compromised.

The problem is spiritual. People are finally catching onto this, and the call to intense prayer and fasting is ringing around the nation. I’ve been amazed to see it unfold. There hasn’t been a formal call… just an urging and sense that without the help of the Creator of the Universe, we are sunk.  I’ve heard it said over and over again, “I don’t know why, but I have felt the need to up my intensity in my time alone with God.”  That is no coincidence. I, too, have sensed this, and after watching the incredible movie War Room, came home and cleaned out a closet. The times of prayer were awkward at first, but that was my own fault.  I had tried to fix everything on my own without coming to the King. This is the call for action. This is the call to our knees. Without His help, the fire will be intense.

2. Look at the Faith-Filled Giant Slayers.

11885337_10153046874012116_5134875446051972068_nAre you ready to give account for why you believe what you believe? If not, then may I suggest studying like you have to cram for the most important exam of your life.  Don’t depend on the Internet or self-help books to get your information. Get a hard copy of the Word of God and a concordance (I just purchased this one), then start digging in. Learn to self-feed.

For the past few months, I have been studying Scripture like never before. It’s come alive for me. The heroes of the faith…the examples given to us are to be held onto and emulated. Faith filled giant slayers like Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, David, Gideon, Abraham, Paul and Silas, Peter… these heroes knew how to handle the culture war. They knew how to live their faith “on the job.” They knew what it was to have evil around them and still stand for righteousness. Dig into these Scriptures. They knew their stand could come with prison time. They knew they could lose their job… they knew the consequences.

When Kim Davis decided to stand for her faith in the workplace, I was amazed at how many “Christians” put her in the jail and threw away the key themselves saying that our faith should be kept at home… or Christians should not hold public office.  I have studied over and over and just simply don’t find that to be the case. Daniel sure didn’t… Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego didn’t…. they were appointed by the high officials themselves.  We can borrow courage from these men in the Word if we study them.

3. Don’t look for any politician for the answers.

Just take a look at what happened last year to the Indiana General Assembly when they were put on the hot seat. All but 9 of them caved like jello sizzling on a hot sidewalk on a summer’s day. They just couldn’t stand up to the pressure of the most powerful entity in the state… the media. Now these same men and women are aligned and contemplating the same thing this upcoming session and pounding the final nail in the coffin for Hoosiers whose desire is to hold to their faith, even in the marketplace.

The bottom line…no politician will stand in the fire if he/she wants to be re-elected, so don’t look to them to help. Yes, you can and should remove them from office if they cave, but don’t think they will help save our freedom. They won’t.

4.  Don’t look for your pastor to lead… YOU lead.

I don’t know how many times, I hear the complaint, “I am so frustrated with my pastor… he just refuses to speak on these issues behind the pulpit…. my church won’t do anything.”  My question to you is two fold…

  1. Why are you still sitting in these pews?
  2. Why are you not leading?

All eyes right now are on the silent pulpits and lack of leadership, yet we still continue to fill the pews and be quiet as church mice! What if the church mice woke up and began to pray for their pastor… began to live the faith that is taught in Scripture… and began to lead?  What if the pews woke up? We can’t blame this on the pastors. I have spoken to numerous churches over the past few years, and I can attest to this… when looking out to the audience and seeing the apathy and dull faced lack of responses, I think,  “no wonder our pastors are silent!” We have silenced them by threatening to fire them if they speak out or give the wrong message.  We’ve conditioned the sermons with our wallets. “Tickle my ears, or I won’t give financially.” The blame for the silent churches rests at our feet, folks. It’s time to empower the pastors to lead. If they don’t… then lead and leave.

5. Prepare to stand alone

Prepare to stand alone. If you stand on the authority of Scripture, there will not be many standing with you. Living holy lives has become a thing of the past, and I am not just talking about the sin of homosexuality. I am talking about ALL of it. It’s not a popular message.  I’ll be honest, my faith was not shaken when the attacks from the left came… my faith was shaken when I saw my family and friends inside the church cave and compromise. It’s hard to stand alone.

Prepare your children to stand alone. Have you taught them just the frilly stuff, or are they ready to stand in the fire as well? (Don’t think for a minute the enemy just wants you. He wants your kids) In fact, he’d rather have your kids FIRST. Prepare them to stand boldly in the face of persecution.

Default buttonPrepare your spirit. Prepare emotionally. “God has not given us a spirit of fear but of love, power and a SOUND MIND” (2 Timothy 1:7). Persecution can take a toll on the mind.Center your default button on Jesus Christ. Know his Word inside and out. Are you ready to be mocked for the cause of Christ, or do you cower in the corner when someone calls you a bigot? Have you seen the latest Tide commercial? Are you so sensitive that you are even afraid to post something on Facebook for fear you will be unfriended ? If so…then toughen up my friend. No weapon formed against you will prosper.

This is NOT a time for fear. Let me say it loud and clear again…. This is NOT a time for fear! Don’t even think of being afraid….

Joshua 1:9 says “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

In fact the Bible says do not be afraid 366 times.

This is a time for preparation. Remember the story of the 10 virgins waiting for the groom? If not… read it again.(Matthew 25)  Five of them were like most Americans alive today. They had their lamps with them but didn’t worry about filling them with oil. They were probably too busy at the ball field having fun. When they fell asleep, the groom came, and they missed him. The other five were prepared. They knew the groom was coming, and they had their lamps filled and ready. Look what happened to those who were not prepared. They missed the groom and the door was shut.

Don’t fear… JUST PREPARE!
